Information about our two chosen charities.

School in a Bag - Luke Simon founded the charity, the Piers Simon Appeal, in 2005 shortly after his brother Piers sadly lost his life in the Boxing Day 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.  Most SIB helpers are unpaid volunteers.

A School Bag can transform the way in which children can be taught and therefore learn – your gift can be a passport to a future life free from poverty.  They support children in all countries regardless of race, politics or religion.  They work with local partners on the ground thus empowering them within their communities.  Every School Bag is numbered and trackable providing complete donor transparency.

Aquabox - Run almost entirely by Rotary volunteers means that 95% of donations go directly to manufacturing the filters and distributing the Aquaboxes. From local volunteers making and assembling the water filters on site then filling the boxes with emergency supplies, to organising the logistics of distribution so the water filters and Aqua-aid boxes get to the very heart of a crisis, means more money goes directly to those who need it the most.

Millions of people around the world do not have access to clean water for drinking, cooking or washing. A single Aquabox family filter can convert up to half a million litres of polluted water into safe, clean water – and give some of those desperate people the hope of a better life. Aquabox: clean water in a crisis.
