End Polio Now

Rotary International is working to complete the promise it made to the world - we will rid the world of Polio.

There have been 18 new cases of Wild Polio infections reported – 9 each in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is a relatively large increase since my last bulletin especially in comparison to the number of new cases in the same period of 2023. All the cases are along the Border between the two countries.

As I have previously mentioned a single Year to Date figure is not directly significant as it is the totals in the full year which give a better understanding of progress. The total number of new cases for 2023 was 12 but for 2024, at the halfway mark this has already been exceeded

Thanks to all those clubs who have invited me to speak on the subject of polio, I have very much enjoyed the hospitality on each occasion. I currently have 3 further visits in the diary but if you are not one of those 3 and would like me to visit and bring you up to date, I am happy so to do. Just contact me with your suggested dates and I’ll get back to you.
