Rotary Sheffield asked 20th Sheffield Scouts to help with a initiative to support the children of Ukraine at Christmas. More than 100,000 women and children have stayed in Kharkiv and live under rocket attacks and bombing. Children have few opportunities to continue their education. More than a third of Kharkiv district is mined including play gardens, parks, schools and forests. The children desperately need physical recovery and phychological relaxation.
Rotary Clubs across the country have collected pencils, notebooks, colouring pencils, crayons, small puzzles/games, colouring/puzzle books to provide the children with interesting and stimulating things to do while in shelters or at home. The items were packed into friendship boxes. It is intended that the boxes will also provide a storage box for all the special things that children like to keep.
