ShelterBox was started in 2000 by a Rotarian who recognised that - alongside food and medicine - basic shelter was a major factor in surviving the immediate aftermath of a disaster.
A ShelterBox is a compact, durable and transportable box containing amongst other things: a 10-person tent for protection from the elements, various survival tools, a cooking stove and utensils, blankets for sleeping and warmth, and whatever other items are needed for that particular situation.
When a disaster strikes we have often donated money to Shelterbox as being the most effective way to bring help.
