The NHS is facing its biggest ever challenge and our doctors and nurses are seeing a shortfall in the supply of scrubs in the hospitals. Hospital and care staff, many of whom don't usually work in scrubs or who have come out of retirement to help the fight, some staff need to change scrubs several times a day to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
The initial For the Love of Scrubs campaign was started by Ashleigh Linsdell, an A&E nurse with a side-line in sewing who wanted to make scrubs for her department. She didn't realise the impact the shortages behind her campaign would have on us as a nation or how quickly word would spread and the scrubs making movement grow.
Scarborough makers have been doing their bit , largely self-funded, sending out handmade scrubs to our local hospital, GP's and care homes
Funds raised by Cavaliers were be used by Scarborough makers to buy materials suitable to make scrubs which to be given to Scarborough Hospital, local NHS teams, GP's and carers in the whole of the Scarborough area, outlying villages Filey and Whitby.
