What we do

What we do

As an eClub we are guided by our mission to transform opinion, perception and the lives of all people affected by bipolar around the world.

We do this through reducing shame and self-stigma of the condition, sharing inspirational stories, messages of hope and tips in self management from around the world- proactive. We do not offer peer support group or offer clinical advice. We are people of action passionate about making a positive difference in the world.

HOW WE DO THIS

1) Giving bipolar a voice

We create a space for people to come together to have important conversations around bipolar, providing a platform to voices all around the world. We usually host a guest speaker every month.

Past speakers have included:

  • Mya-Rose Craig, environmentalist and author of 'Birdgirl'
  • Anushka Asthana, ITV's Deputy Political Editor
  • Major General Gregg F Martin USA (Ret.) and author of 'Bipolar General: My Forever War with Mental Illness
  • Renaud Maigne, CEO of the patient association, Bipolarité France
  • Vijay Nallawala, author and founder, Bipolar India
  • Dimosthenis Tsapekos, Postdoctoral researcher, CRiB2 Trial manager

For a list of our upcoming speakers please check out our events.

If you would like to listen to our talks then come along (virtually) and take a friend if you like.

2) Outreach to other audiences

To help us reach new audiences and share our key messages we have spoken virtually and in person to different organisations and Rotary clubs across the world.

If you have an interest in building experience in public speaking we would encourage you to join us and take part.

3) Proactive projects for good

Even in our first year we have already been involved in some meaningful strategic projects. We have helped create Diversity Equity and Inclusion materials around myth busting facts for Rotary’s District 1145 that can used for other organisations.

In the longer term, we want to make use of our talents in training and developing learning materials to create useful e-learning tools on bipolar which are accessible to anyone around the world.

If you would like direct hands-on role helping manage strategic projects then why not get involved.

4) Partnering together to make a difference

As a virtual club, we have developed unique of model of partnering with traditional Rotary clubs and other organisations such as Bipolar UK to host in-person events. This has allowed us to successfully host fundraising and awareness events in the past year including:

Family Fun Day – Trains, Darts and BBQ with support from Chertsey, Titsey and Ashford Rotary clubs
North East Rotary walks for bipolar with support from Darlington, Durham Velvet, Consett, Berwick, Alnwick and Hexham Rotary clubs.
Bipolar information drop-in day with support from Rotary Cheam and Sutton and Sutton Mental Health Foundation

If you would like to host or be involved in an in-person event, just let us know.
