Rotary in Langley Park Satellite (now Bromley Game Changers) has fun while raising funds for Ukraine
On Friday 8th April 2022 Langley Park Satellite group held a successful Games Night. The event was a fundraiser for the Ukrainian appeal and included a fish and chips supper.
The three wooden games were constructed by a member of "Men & Women in Sheds". The Games included beautifully carved and hand painted horses that ran on a 16ft track with fences and water jumps.
The second game used a wooden, Roman type of catapult that fired beanbags some distance into a series of buckets.
In the final game, players had to throw beanbags at a large wooden board with holes of different sizes. We called this game 'Pot-Shot'. This was an inter-table competition; i.e. players from each of the 10 tables were in competition with those from other tables. The horse race commentator ensured that the competitive players cheered on horses and players from their own groups. At the start, each table was given 100 blue and yellow tokens, to show association with the Ukraine appeal. At the conclusion, prizes were awarded to the players whose table held the most tokens.
The event attracted all age groups and great fun was had by all.
Quote from our newest satellite member:
“This was my first event working with a great team for an amazingly worthy cause. The camaraderie and hard work putting this together was so worthwhile when you witnessed the fun and laughter of those that came along. I feel proud to be part of Langley Park Satellite.”
