30th November 2023

At a recent zoom meeting of Newbury Rotary, Karen and Bandana were challenged (or maybe invited?) to take part in the club's 5 kilometre Santa Fun Run. Both nervously accepted and so a few weeks later on Saturday 26th November they found themselves in a crowd of santas - children, adults and dog santas - ready to run around the fields and streets of Newbury. Neither had trained, but Bandana had at least been going to the gym regularly. Karen was expecting to come in last!

It was a lovely day, not quite blue skies, but dry enough. Ievgeniia, Chris and John were there to marshall the route along with other members and friends of the club. The town mayor was there in his gown and chain of office ready to send us off.

No need for an account of the tactics or running style of Karen or Bandana! We did both run faster than we had expected though!

A fun day out and thanks also to Chris and John for their hospitality for the weekend in Newbury!
