I know it will not be as good as Peter's and I hope he hasn't got copyrights but given Peter is away I thought I would send a newswire...
At 1st March Meeting.....
1 - The Acorn Committee voted unanimously to pass the baton of their bike ride to us! At the club meeting it was formally proposed by Bill S, seconded by Pete S, all were in favour with one abstention. Please keep this years date 7th May in your diary as we need to observe and learn as much as we can from Acorn. From 2017 it will called Ripon Rotary Bike Ride and for the first year only will also state (Formerly Acorn Bike Ride)
2 - Sadly the Sharow concert on May
7th has been cancelled for this Rotary year, the conductor has double booked,
it is hoped this will take place in the next rotary year. Thanks were extended
to John Hague for all his hard work.
3 - The President reminded all that
as we now have lady members meetings should be addressed either Ladies and
Gentlemen or Rotarians/members to ensure we are inclusive
4 - Golf Day - 6th June, a major income
source is the Tombola - Barry Kay has kindly volunteered to organise the
tombola. John Mellor and Derek Jeary will visit local retailers for donations
but more help is needed please to obtain prizes- please link with John/Derek to
help in this.
5 - Am still seeking a member who
can attend a seminar on Saturday 12th March at The Dower House in Knaresborough
09.30 - 12.30. Knaresborough RC will be presenting information on the soon to
be launched new satellite club - please contact me asap if you can attend.
Not as good as Peter's but I do try!
