Earlier this year a donation was made by the club to Jez Willard of Harrogate for the Japanese Red Cross as part of the Earthquake Appeal and Jez visited the club yesterday to give a talk drawing on his experience of living in Japan. He described how at least 15,000 people died as a result of the earthquake and referred to facts such as the tidal wave extending six miles inland. An insight was also given into everyday life in Japan with its emphasis on the importance of the group rather than the individual.
