Extreme poverty witnessed at first hand in Ukerewe, Tanzania, left a definite impression on this week's speaker, John Pearson. He had been a member of Past District Governor's project group which made improvements to the local hospital through re-equipping the operating theatre and improving the sterilising unit.
Basic cleaning and painting were also completed but John emphasised the enormity of the problem for the future.
Derek is organising a Rotary team entry in next week's Pancake Race.
