John Whelan joined a group of Rotarians last summer for a weekend aboard the 'James Cook' to sample Club sponsored students' OYT experience.
His talk to the Club this week described this voyage from Newcastle to Blyth when he saw some of the challenges faced by students including sail-handling, navigating, cooking, steering, the daily clean-up and the thorny question of staying in your bunk.
Rotary aims of recognising and celebrating young peoples' achievements are synonymous with those of OYT.
Bulb planting starts next Friday on Rotary Way from 9 a.m.
Polio Plus collections take place at Morrisons on February 20th and at Sainsburys on February 27th.
