Interact Rally 2026

Interact Rally 2026 at Gilwern Adventure Centre
near Abergavenny

Young people from across Rotary clubs in Southern Wales came together in Gilwern near Abergavenny, for a dynamic and inspiring three-day Interact Rally, focused on developing skills, building connections, and sharing experiences.

Hosted by  Rotary in Southern Wales , the residential event brought together a diverse group of young people aged 11 to 17, creating a unique opportunity for participants to step outside their comfort zones and grow both personally and as a team.

Across the three days, Interactors took part in a wide range of outdoor and team-building activities including climbing, abseiling, canoeing, gorge walking, high ropes, and archery . These activities were designed not only to challenge individuals physically, but also to develop team work, confidence, resilience, communication, and leadership skills.

Beyond the activities, the rally provided a valuable platform for young people to connect with others from different areas, share ideas, and learn from each other’s experiences within their own communities. Evening sessions allowed time for reflection, discussion, and strengthening friendships, helping to build a strong network of like-minded young people committed to making a difference.

Lucy Davies, President of Brynmawr Interact, said: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together. Everything we do, whether it’s taking on new challenges, building friendships, or sharing ideas, is about growing as individuals and supporting each other. This rally shows how much young people can achieve when we come together.”

A key aim of the rally was to empower participants by giving them the confidence and skills to take back into their own Interact groups and communities. By working together in new environments and supporting one another through challenges, attendees developed a deeper understanding of teamwork and the importance of collaboration.

The event highlighted the positive role young people are playing across Southern Wales, showcasing their willingness to engage, lead, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Donna Wallbank Interact Rally organiser said: “This rally is about much more than activities, it’s about bringing young people together, helping them develop lifelong skills, and creating connections that will continue to grow long after the event.”

As the rally came to a close, participants left Gilwern with new friendships, increased confidence, and a shared sense of purpose, ready to continue making a positive impact in their communities.
