Pena Thatal and Smaiksha Pradhan are in training at Gaya Ganga Hospital and Eden Hospital helped by Pontefract Rotary sponsorship.
The Club are working with Darjeeling Chidrens Trust to sponsor the training of these two young ladies to become nurses. The grant assists in accomadation as food plus uniform, books and tuition.
Darjeeling Childrens Trust helps chidren in Darjeeling and is currently rebuilding an orphanage. A new boys dormitary has been built and there are now plans to build a girls dormitary.
Prerna Thatal aged 22 is training at Gaya Ganga Hospital. Prerna had completed the 1st year of the 3½ year course using funding from her family who had spent their entire life savings and so she would not have been able to continue without our support.
Samiksha Pradhan also aged 22 is training at Eden Hospital in Darjeeling. Samiksha’s father wanted to support her in becoming a nurse, but sadly died before that was possible. With Rotary’s support via the DCT she is now able to fulfil his dream. Samiksha is also committed to helping the orphanage when she qualifies.
