The Tree of Togetherness

A Christmas Journey from Orpington to Pemberley Manor

The Tree of Togetherness: A Christmas Journey from Orpington to Pemberley Manor

The Rotary Orpington District e-Club is celebrating a heart-warming success following the annual Christmas Tree Festival at Orpington Methodist Church. This year, the club’s entry—the "Tree of Togetherness"—stood tall as a symbol of community spirit and sustainability.

A Community Creation

Standing at seven feet, the tree was a true collaborative effort. It was decorated by volunteers and visitors to the club's Warm Hub, which provides a vital space for connection and comfort within the local community. In keeping with a commitment to the environment, the tree and all its decorations were 100% recycled from generous donations.

Fundraising for Local Causes

The festival, a staple of the Orpington festive calendar, was a resounding success. This year’s event raised over £2,000, which will be shared between two deserving charities:

  • CASPA Bromley: Supporting children, young people, and families affected by Autism.
  • The Maypole Project: Providing a lifeline of support for families with children who have complex medical needs.

A New Home at Pemberley Manor

While the festival has come to a close, the "Tree of Togetherness" continues to shine. The Rotary e-Club has donated the entire tree, including its lights and recycled decorations, to Pemberley Manor Care Home on Grays Farm Road.

The donation aims to bring continued joy to the residents, ensuring that the hard work of the volunteers and the spirit of the Warm Hub visitors live on well into the New Year, and for years to come.

The Rotary Orpington District e-Club would like to thank everyone who visited the display and contributed to such a fantastic fundraising total.
