COVID19 PACKS FOR HOSPITALS
This week, Ythan Valley Rotarian, Eleanor Macalister, picked up a post made on Ythanbank Ladies Chit Chat Group, and within the group some of the Ythanbank Ladies Chitchat Group have been making "scrubs" bags. This is a real community effort."
The post was from Susan Robertson who has a friend who works on the Covid19 ward. Susan’s post explained that the ward would be delighted to receive pyjamas for patients, both young and old. Unfortunately, a number of patients are admitted with no pyjamas and families are, of course, unable to access them. The hospital stock is running low and so an appeal has gone out for these items.
Ythan Valley Rotary has a Clothing Bank. It was started up because of evidence that there is a need for clean, good condition clothes for families and single people who find themselves in a situation where clothes have become a priority, either through domestic issues, disasters in the home or whatever. Covid19 is an absolute emergency. Without hesitation, Ythan Valley Rotary filled 3 bags containing pyjamas, brand new underpants, nighties, brand new slippers, tee-shirts and tops which can be used by the patients either during their stay in hospital or for something to wear going home. Even a little teddy was packed to cheer up a little patient.
Clearly, this is a situation which is not going to go away soon. Requests for pyjamas are out in the community. Ythan Valley Rotary is more than happy to play its part in this and will continue to do so as and when required. We continue to provide clothing packs and these can be accessed through the Health Visitor teams in Ellon and Pitmedden and also social service offices in the area who will contact us with your needs. All of this is dealt with anonymously.
