Tarka Rotary Christmas Bags 2020

This year has been tough for most but those that are on the margins of society or down on their luck have been particularly hard hit as most of the charity organisations that give them extra support have not been able to open this year.

The Tarka Rotary members therefore thought it would be a good idea to give Christmas gift bags to these people in need in Bideford, with the hope of lifting their spirits, by supplying a bit of fun, a few treats, and some practical items.

Tarka Rotary raised funds, coordinated with Barnstaple Rotary shop who gave a most welcome financial contribution, obtained donations from ASDA and other local shops, then gave their time to not only obtain the supplies and donations but also wrap gifts and pack the gift bags.

This resulted in 50 Christmas Gift bags that were given out to those that attended the St Mary's Church Friday Diner and to some CAP Bideford customers. The gift bags being greatfuly received and enjoyed, with sinsere thanks being given by the recipiants both verbally and by email.
