Supporting local health resources

On 19th September Peter Drabble represented the Club at an update presentation taking place at the Springwood Unit at Malton Hospital. Springwood is a community care centre of some 14 beds. The unit focuses on delivering mental health care for men and women over 65 who have complex needs. A special emphasis is placed on encouraging social activity in a welcoming, homely environment. This approach to nursing support removes the danger of isolation and allows the interaction with others to add to quality of life of the residents. Occasionally the unit will take in younger people who require similar support. The unit continues to find ways of brightening the living space, indoors and out, and it is in this capacity that the Malton and Norton Rotary Club is seeking ways to play their part in helping provide resources to the unit.
