Supporting Vision Aid Overseas

Local Optician supports the Club's efforts in the colllection of old spectacles.

The VisionAid initiative run by Cowdenbeath Rotary Club has seen 3000 pairs of glasses sent to the Third World.

And local opticians, Carrick, have played a important role over the past couple of years through the shops in Lochgelly and Kelty.

Indeed, in just one week around 250 specs have come from the Kelty outlet and optician Stephen Carrick said that his customers were very generous on donating their old specs to the cause.

Commented Stephen: "Since we started collecting spectacles for VisionAid we have found our customers in both Lochgelly and Kelty delighted to donate their old glasses.

"We are very pleased to held in any way we can and we hope to keep on doing so."

The club's International convener Tom Russell, presented certificates to Carricks to mark the contribution of the customers of both shops and said: "Carricks have been tremendous supporters of Vision Aid and their contribution is very much welcomed by our members.

The spectacles collected by the Cowdenbeath Rotarians are refurbished before being sent abroad.
