Message from Wallington & Carshalton Round Table

We are sad to announce that we are unable to bring you the 63rd Round Table Carshalton Fireworks display that has happened every year in Carshalton Park since 1957. Due to Covid-19 we have needed to prioritise the health and safety of the community and volunteers who usually attend this fantastic event.

We understand that for many of you this news is hugely disappointing, though for some of you it may be a relief to have certainty about what is happening in your community on Saturday 7th November.

During these challenging months the world has reeled from the impacts of Covid-19. Event organisers have been busy working with government and local councils to plan the way back for community events and mass gatherings. We have discussed various ways in which we may have been able to bring you Carshalton Fireworks while following the current government social distancing guidance. However, none of these satisfied us that we could guarantee there would be no increased risk of spread or infection.

We are also aware that other local and further afield displays have already been cancelled, causing us an additional risk of extra people attending our event, as well as the increased travelling into our local area.

This news will also be devastating for the many local charities and good causes that we donate to each year, which is why we will be asking for support from the community. Round Table Carshalton Fireworks usually raises over £20,000 for charity.

So, while Round Table Carshalton Fireworks as we know and love, cannot take place on Saturday 7th November, we will ask you to join us in our “Not the Carshalton Fireworks” charity appeal. This will not only help our charities with desperately needed fundraising, but also demonstrate that the spirit of our community burns as bright as ever.

You can follow the link below to our Just Giving page, if you can make just the smallest donation it will go such a long way.

Stay safe and stay healthy

All the best
