ShelterBox, has been helping communities throughout the world in all types of disasters, both man-made and those caused by conflict.

VENEZUELA: ShelterBox was in the region providing immediate emergency aid since the beginning of the disaster, in which >3500 people have so far been recorded dead, >16,000 injured, and tens of thousands are believed to be missing as a result of the significant tremors on 24 June 2026.

In a disaster region, ShelterBox's immediate response is to carry out a needs assessment to quickly help communities. This maybe by providing emergency aid Shelter Kits, water filters, and solar lights.

Rotary has supported ShelterBox for more than 25 years as they work to provide humanitarian aid in countries such as Afghanistan, the Philippines, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, and Bangladesh.

Many clubs and individuals donate to buy a ShelterBox, which includes the necessary items to gain immediate shelter from the elements for a family (see below).

ShelterBox is working in approximately 100 countries where an estimated 100 million people have been displaced.

The United Nations recently estimated that over 8 million people require humanitarian assistance in Venezuela today.

Items packed inside the kit include:

Tarpaulin shelter, ropes to make secure, tools such as a hoe and shovel to prepare the ground, wire, roofing nails, tin snips, a handsaw, and a claw hammer, along with other useful items such as needles and a tape measure.
