Coats4Kids – Because Every Child Deserves to Feel Warm and Proud

Coats4Kids is now preparing for its fifth winter campaign, with one clear goal:
To provide brand-new, warm winter coats to primary-aged children whose families simply can’t afford one at the start of the Autumn term.

We started Coats4Kids after seeing the quiet suffering of children turning up to school cold, withdrawn, and wearing hand-me-downs from the “charity box” — coats that, while well-meaning, often single them out and make them a target for bullying. For a vulnerable child, the playground can be cruel.

These children often struggle with confidence, self-esteem, and focus. When you’re cold — and sometimes hungry — learning becomes almost impossible.

While many schools now have the funding to provide breakfast clubs, they rarely have money to buy children the one thing they truly long for: a warm, brand-new coat just like their peers. Something to feel proud of. Something that helps them fit in.

We hear from schools every day telling us,

“The children walk a little taller and are so excited to show off their new coats.”

Most of these children have never owned anything new in their lives.
But this small act — receiving a coat that’s theirs, brand new — can lift their confidence, improve learning outcomes, and even impact their future prospects.

Please pause for a moment. Think about how you feel when you put on your own winter coat and step into the cold. Have you ever considered what it means to have one — or what it means not to?
