Alan Barnes - 50 years service

A 50th Year Service Certificate was presented to Rotarian Allan Barnes of Ilkley Rotary Club. Allan Joined Rotary on the 9th of December 1969 into the Rotary Club of Preston South in Rotary District 1190 covering Cumbria and Lancashire. 

Becoming a member of the Rotary Club of Ilkley in 1982 he served as President from 1988 to 1989. He was Granted the District Governors Award following being President of Ilkley Rotary Club. An active member of District 1040 serving on the Foundation Committee at the time Allan O Jagger was Foundation Chairman of District 1040. He became a Paul Harris Fellow in 1993. 

A passionate supporter of Foundation and Ambassadorial Scholars in particular Allan’s work with Ambassadorial Scholars still continues with links with Ellen Leger from Minnesota. 

Glynne Edwards, Rotary President said “We all join in congratulating Allan for his outstanding service to Rotary over half a century & long may it continue.” 

The presentation was made by Brian Stott Assistant District Governor & Member of Skipton Craven Club.
