The former MP for Keighley and Ilkley John Grogan gave a talk to the weekly lunch meeting of Ilkley Rotary Club and presented a lighthearted view of Life as an MP.
He explained the selection processes which can be rather drawn out ,and the role of the whips office and the regular travelling between Parliament and the constituency and having to attend key debates and discussions especially when the voting is likely to be tight. He thinks “Yes Minister” is very realistic and loved as much by overseas viewers as well as our own discerning viewers.
One of his interests is cricket and he has been keen to promote “ free to air” TV for all.
