First Aid for the local community - Defibrillator
The Rotary community group meets at The Dalesway on the first Wednesday of the month at 12noon for an hour.
A defibrillator was suggested at one of these meetings after hearing about how the local popular postman Mark Smith suffered a heart attack just as he entered the Hotel for their Sunday carvery. The ambulance took 30 mins to arrive & the responder just afterwards but only just in time to save Mark which of course he is forever grateful. Ian Collins the Dalesway Landlord & barman Jack did everything they could to help Mark but Ian Collins now says that the Defibrillator gives greater reassurance to most who are unsure what to do correctly.
The Defibrillator is in a very prominent place on the A65 for Ilkley & many incidents sadly do occur in our busy tourist town. Ironically Mark & David went to school locally together at IGS.
