The Bala Charity Walk

An intrepid team from City of Liverpool again tried its best shot at this walk for the fourth year running.  This year’s team was, as always, captained by Sue Clements who organised our foray while naturally excluding all legal liability.  She was supported by President Alison, Colin Kershaw, Andrew Kellaway, Keith Housley and  Sue’s sister Mandy with her partner Julie, all fully equipped for every eventuality other than, it transpired, walking uphill.  The problem was the same this year as in previous years in that although the walk starts and finishes at lake level it appears to be all uphill.  However despite this difficulty our team managed to survive largely due to tea and scones at our usual hill farm stopping point at a psychologically key point in the walk.  The scones were the stuff of dreams and rendered the short final stretch down to the Lake station close to feeling downhill.  The return to base on the Bala Lake Railway was much appreciated and served to remind us that we had only walked 8 miles.
