House of Parliament visit

Photos and outline of the visit

Thirteen members of the Poundbury Rotary Club visited the Houses of Parliament in January 2024. The photos are self-explanatory. It was an early start, taking the 07.36 train from Dorchester to Waterloo. Then we walked from there to the entrance at Portcullis House. We had three tour guides (all from Dorset) and were given a full tour including through the House of Lords, and Commons. We were met by the member for West Dorset, Chis Loder MP, who joined us for an excellent lunch and great discussions ensued (not politics – much more about how things worked). Then some went to the viewing gallery but were soon bored! It was a Monday when things started slowly. Back to Waterloo and the train home. The total train time was about six hours (levelling up needs to look at Dorset!) Just a side note – the train time to London from Dorchester 50 years ago was quicker.

A great day out – enjoyed by all.
