Closure of Eccleshall Mercia Rotary Club

to take effect on 31st December 2024

Rotary in Eccleshall

Eccleshall Mercia Rotary Club will close at the end of December 2024.  We’d have liked to continue but we’ve been unable to recruit enough people to make a viable team.  We are very grateful to the support for our fundraising activities from local people that has enabled us to fund many worthy projects over the last 14 years.

All is not totally lost in that some members will be joining Stafford Knot Rotary Club where we hope to promote future local projects in the Eccleshall/Yarnfield area.  We are working on keeping Santa’s sleigh available for local use in the future.

We take pride in the role we have played in the Ecclesfield area and to a wide range of organisations locally, and in areas of great need in the wider world.  Details of many of the projects from recent years can be found on this website.  During 2024 we have made 15 donations totalling £5,385  of which £5,085 have been to local organisations.

In addition through public responses to appeals held in December at Eccleshall Coop we have raised over £1,300 for British Red Cross appeals for relief in Ukraine and Gaza.

Sadly we have decided that the Club will close at the end of 2024, after 14 years of active service to the community. This is due to advancing years and our failure to attract new members despite appeals.
