Another week another dollar as they say .. we have been visiting other clubs with Andy, Keith and David supporting me sharing what an eClub is with Lowestoft East Point club which was founded by three of our members Clive and Alan with Keith being the Founder President. we were wramly received and many said they were enlightened about what an eClub is and understand better how we "do Rotary".
We also had an enquiry from a former Rotarian in that club to consider joining our club - so Paul Nichols could become a member very soon.
The format will be broadly the same each week so you can get used to engaging with the bits you like. Let me kow if you do not like something by filling in the comments at the bottom of the page.
This week's Ted talk is Derek Sivers: "How to start a movement" in under 3 minutes!
Originally filmed February 2010 at TED2010
June is Rotary Fellowships month which is quite apt with our speaker this week. We can aquaint ourselves with an interest group that we might like to persue.
David McCraith is building a brilliant speaker programme for the coming months - each week you will be notified of the speaker for the following Wednesday and there will be a rolling list on the front page of our webiste for the next 30 days with a link to more detail.
We are aware that our communication has not been so good and we want to rectify that ... this weekly meeting will go some way towards it I hope. However we do need to establish what you want from the club and what you wish to give so a quick and simple [short] questionaire will be sent to you to find out your interests, ideas, opinions and skills to enable each member to share with each other.
The plan is to record the speaker each week and publish it on this meeting board.
Last week [May 20th] we had an enjoyable and informative talk from District International Chairman Brian Davies on a scheme he started called "Lend With Care" - a mico-finance project that has proved very successful with our clubs and individual Rotarians. Since it started three years ago they have raised over £49k to help entrepreneurs in third world countries to develop their enterprise. Read more >>here<<
Unfortunately we only recorded voice for this speaker so if I can get it to work as a "podcast" i will post it soonest.
Meanwhile this week's speaker Ian Kerr talking about Rotary Fellowships is recorded below for your enjoyment:
We are coming up to the final month in the Rotary Calendar so the District Handover to the new DG is taking place on July 1st at Diss Park Hotel
Each week it is planned to introduce a learning experience for you ... it could be on social media, presentation skills or what some aspect of Rotary means. This is intended to be helpful to both experienced rotarians and "new to Rotary" members. It iwll be based upon the feedback form the survey to be carried out into your likes, skills, desires and ideas.
this week I though I would show a funny but useful and easy to watch "death by PowerPoint" tutorial:
