We held our annual Afternoon tea party for senior citizens in February. The weather was kind to us, being dry sunny and mild. Some 50 guests came from across the Isle of Axholme, some under their own steam others with our help.
Guests were delightfully entertained by Miss Marina Mae who sang songs from the 1940s and the 1960s. We all joined in a number of these. Some of the older guests (oldest 101 years young) were reminded of wartime life. Some of the Rotarians could recall the 1960s!
The Rotary Club is grateful to the many who helped with donations of food, transport and time in helping serving, washing up etc.
Members of the Haxey Baden-Powell Scouts again attended and their youthful cheerful presence was appreciated.
Our thanks also to the Trustees of the Thurlow Pavillion Epworth for use of their premises.
We hope to continue the tradition so please let us know of potential guests for 2020.
