Each year more than 2000 people of all ages and walking abilities take part in the Keswick to Barrow Walk. They are organised in teams and raise sponsorship from their 40-mile trek to benefit charities based in South Cumbria and beyond.
Helpers of all sorts play a vital role in helping to ensure the walk goes according to plan.
Once again our Club volunteered to man the Elterwater checkpoint which meant an early start from Barrow to make sure they were there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (well almost)!
As you can see from the photos it was a wet Elterwater but thankfully for the walkers the rain eased off as the day wore on.
All of the walkers had passed through the checkpoint by 11.00am and so the work of our Rotary members was done. Yet another example of Service Above Self to prove that 'We're For Communities'
