80,000 women in organisation worldwide.

7500 members in SI GB & Ireland.

20 clubs across Yorkshire. The Halifax club is 90 this year. The first president was a suffragette in 1928.

1933 - Halifax led the way on setting up a housing association for women and 40 flats were built solely for single / widowed ladies.

“Programme Action” identified that females didn’t find employment in certain sectors that were male orientated.

Soroptomist International Educate, Empower and Enable women and girls to improve their lives.

Calderdale has a refuge for women and children. 20 units / one & 2 bedroom apartments for those fleeing domestic violence and abuse.

Is it gender biased? In 3rd world countries women don’t have a voice. This has to change. SI are a formidable force.
