SOME HIGHLIGHTS.

Hands On Help.

  • Creating a sensory garden for a severely handicapped child.
  • Planting drifts of bulbs in villages to beautify the landscape.
  • Decorating offices for local community groups.
  • Assisting with building and landscape projects.
Project Managment.

  • Organising a county-wide campaign which has so far provided £70,000 of smoke alarms for installation by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service in the homes of the county's most vulnerable.
  • Running charity concerts, including a major event with leading musical theatre star Kerry Ellis in aid of the John Peel Centre in Stowmarket.
  • Promoting and jointly organising the Mid Suffolk Community Achievement Awards.
  • Organising the provision and distribution of 1,500 children's dictionaries to primary schools in the Stowmarket area.
Direct Fund-Raising.

  • Contributing more than £10,000 to the Rotary Initiative to eliminate polio from the world, partnering with the Gates Foundation, The World Health Authority and UNICEF.
  • Organising emergency street collections to support relief funds following natural disasters and more recently the Ukraine Emergency Fund.
  • Assisting more than 2000 entrepreneurs in the devloping world with small business start-up loans through the "Lend With Care" scheme.
  • Providing pamdemic emergency funding to East Anglia's Childrens Hospices (EACH).

    Two pairs of specialist gloves were donated to Shaftesbury Icanhoe for use with people who find it difficult to grip items.

    Stowmarket Town Youth under 11 team

    Member Rod Curtis organised on behalf of the club some warm clothing and a bench for the Stowmarket Town Youth under 11 team who come under the auspices of the Stowmarket Town Football Club.

    We held our Quiz night on Friday 27th September and what an evening it turned out to be. Our two charities benefited with being given £300 each.

    St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir

    The concert was held on 22nd June 2024. Raised £1300 net to the Hospice. We are very grateful to the St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir and soloist Jess Hughes. A magnificent performance was enjoyed by all who attended.

    The website is now called Mid Suffolk Rotary. This is to reflect the fact that we now cover a much larger area and has been approved by RGB&I. Our previous name was the Rotary Club of Stowmarket Gipping Valley.

    At the Mendlesham Street Fayre barrow of booze a hamper was raffled and the winning ticket was drawn by the May Day Queen. This raised £460. Thanks are due to resident Val Remington-Hobbs for loan of the gazebo and other support.
