The Rotary Club of Severn Vale has donated £2800 to The Spring Centre to pay for energy efficient lighting which will save them over half of their current electricity bill.

The Spring Centre is one of those charities which make you wonder how people can even exist and continue to function without the support they give. The Spring Centre provides day care for children and young adults with additional needs. It provides a safe space for those children to play together and socialise enabling parents to work and spend time with their other children. It provides support for parents who face enormous financial, practical and emotional challenges.

The Rotary Club of Severn Vale has twenty-five members who meet for breakfast every first and third Tuesday at 7.15 for breakfast at the Westminster Inn, raising money by organising events. The Spring Centre is one of the two chosen charities for Club President Nick Ellwood. After the visit by Mark Johnson, Club Treasurer; and Andrew James, who takes over from Nick as President at the end of June 2024, Andrew told the Spring Centre that he would be privileged to continue that relationship in his year of office.

Liza Beszteri of the Spring Centre told us: ‘Parents rely on us so much for the support we give and operating within our cost budget is always a challenge. The cost saving from moving over to low energy lighting not only wins us a substantial saving but also helps the environment too.’
