Club Blog August 2015

Seven visitors from the Rotary Club of Wrington Vale joined our meeting at the beginning of August for a social evening. We began with a paperchase - teams of 4 scanned a number of local newspapers and magazines to find the articles containing answers to the strange questions posed by organiser Ann! A game of killer skittles followed, won by Wrington Vale President Michael, who kindly donated his winnings to our French Twinning Fund. We look forward to a return visit in the future.

Mid August, 5 of our members enjoyed a fun morning marshalling at the Carnival Soap Box Derby held in Castle Street, Trowbridge. Unfortunately even though the sun was shining, entries were down this year, but all who attended had lots of fun and some even got a ride in the local police officers soapbox; it was an unusual construction having two back seats for passengers! Congratulations to Team Nitrous Oxide, who travelled down from Surrey to secure their 6th winners title.

Making the most of our summers evenings, Trev & Alan organised an outdoor games evening on the 17th August. Crazy golf in the garden of the Lamb produced lots of giggles if no outright winner.

At our Business Meeting at the end of the month we were delighted to formerly welcome Andy Barlow as the newest member of our club. Andy has been supporting our club activities for a number of years so it is great to finally & officially have him on board.

A lot is happening behind the scenes as our committees are busy with plans for events & activities taking place over the next ten months, so keep watching our Website & Facebook pages.
