Club Blog December 2014

A great start to the month, former member Eileen rejoined Trowbridge Wessex Mead Rotary Club, welcome Eileen.

With Christmas approaching, the Trowbridge Lions Santa float began doing the rounds in December and we assisted on Monday 8th. Supper at David's house afterwards has become the tradition and was much appreciated by his fellow collectors.

15th December was a designated member arranged evening, and although he was not able to join us that night, David arranged for an 'Introduce Yourself' evening. Each person talked about themselves for a few minutes, relating some details about their background such as family life & work, just whatever they wished to share. It was a really interesting evening with everyone finding they had learned something new about each other, even though some of us have been friends for a very long time.

On the Monday before Christmas we went to Bradford on Avon, for our TWM Christmas meal at the Dandy Lion. Special thanks to Andy Barlow for the donation of wine, the food was delicious and our Secret Santa gifts imaginative. A very enjoyable evening was had by all.

Although it was not an official Rotary gathering Caroline once again invited those who had not already made plans to join her & Ian to welcome in the New Year. We celebrated the New Year in multiple time zones by sampling food & drink of various countries around the world, covering India, Seychelles, Turkey, Russia, & Germany along with conversation & games before raising a glass of champagne at midnight, lots of fun.
