Club Blog October 2014

At the beginning of October, Westbury Rotary Club held a quiz, attended by a team from TWM. An educational evening for our team, someone has to come last!!!

'Older Peoples Day' took place at County Hall on Saturday 4th October, and TWM members attended as 'digital champions'. Digital champions help members of their local community to get online and carry out basic tasks with their PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. More information can be found at www.wiltshireonline.org

The 6th October was a members designated evening, and with a district skittles match due to be played the following month, the opportunity was taken for some much need practice. Debbie managed to get the highest overall score, despite also scoring a duck!

On 13th October we were pleased to host the Trowbridge Visually Impaired Club for an evening of food & entertainment. We were delighted to have another pair of hands to help out when Nicky, one of our founder members and on a fleeting visit to the UK, joined us for the evening. Nicky has emigrated to Canada and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Hudson & St-Lazare.

Always happy to help other organisations in the Trowbridge area, marshalling assistance was given to Trowbridge Carnival Committee on Saturday 18th October, for the town carnival procession, and at the end of the month, we distributed poppies & collecting boxes to pubs, shops, care homes and surgeries around Trowbridge on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
