Club Blog September 2014

September began with a member organised evening. Bryony arranged for club members and friends to take part in the Bizarre Bath Comedy Walk. Billed as a hysterical rather than historical look at Bath, we strolled the back streets, taking an irreverent look at the city, enjoying mystery, jokes and magic.

Trowbridge Country Fayre took place on the first Saturday of September and once again we gave the public the opportunity to win either a bottle of wine or sweet fresh air on our annual wine or air stall! We also challenged you to take part in our timed buzzer game, a fiendishly difficult rotary wheel contraption.

Our annual Carnival Quiz took place later in the month. Twenty two teams took part at the Polish Club, Waterworks Rd with topical rounds ranging from In the News, Scotland and Bake Off. Team 'Pic 'n' Mix' scooped first prize with team 'Old & Decrepit' coming in second. The interval round was won by 'Linda's Literary Lovers' and all enjoyed a very tasty supper of fish & chips purchased from The Jolly Friar.

During the third week of September we had plenty of opportunity to meet with members of other rotary clubs, starting with the District meeting held in Street on the Saturday, with the rest of the week designated as scatter (this is when we encourage our members to attend a meeting at a different Rotary Club) It is always fun to meet up with friends (or make new ones!) and find out what other clubs have been doing.

The Trowbridge in Bloom Awards evening took place on 23rd September, and Caroline attended, representing Trowbridge Wessex Mead, to present certificates & trophies to the winners of the categories she had co-judged back in July.

At our monthly business meeting we were delighted to induct Laura as a member of our club, welcome Laura!
