November 2013

November started with a bang as on Saturday 2^nd November we assisted Chippenham Rotary Club with their public bonfire and fireworks display at Monkton Park. This annual event has been running for 40 years and is well supported by local residents. The excitement of the spectators made  a  windy and sometimes wet evening feel quite warm!

The 4^th November saw our own fireworks and social evening hosted by members Ann and Chris. The fireworks were a touch more moderate than at Chippenham, but along with sparklers, chilli squash soup and pizza, we had great fun. A big thank you to Ann for organising and giving up her house for the evening.

On the 9th November, a group from Trowbridge Wessex Mead thoroughly enjoyed an evening of food at the Westbury Rotary International Cuisine Evening. We were able to sample 3 courses from 4 different countries  - Greece, Italy, the Caribbean and the USA - making a whopping number of 12 possible courses, delicious!

We really enjoy our food, so could not miss out on joining our Westbury Rotary friends again the following week for a day trip to London to visit the Good Food Show. With all the food & drink samples available we made the most of our visit and will definitely be returning in the future.

On Saturday 16^th November Trowbridge Wessex Mead hosted our first 1940’s Night at the North Bradley Peace Memorial  Hall, in aid of the Chernobyl Children Life Line West Wilts. A lot of planning and hard work resulted in a very successful fun filled evening: tasty food was prepared by our club members and excellent entertainment was provided by the lovely Amy Baker. The ambience was further enhanced by the majority of those attending dressing in 1940's style. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
