December 2012

The Rotary Club of Trowbridge Wessex Mead  meet every Monday evening except bank holidays  and although Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are not technically bank holidays...  we chose to interpret them as such! We therefore only had three official meetings this month.

Monday 3rd was a committee night where we make plans for forthcoming events. At the start of the meeting we were joined by Sally Haddrell who accepted, on behalf of Alzheimer's Support, a cheque for £842; money raised at our Bavarian Evening held in October 2012.

On Monday 10th December, a group of us wrapped up warmly and met up with Santa at Seymour Road to help Trowbridge Lions with their Santa Float Christmas Collecting. A hot supper afterwards at Immediate Past President David's house was very much appreciated.

Our final meeting for the year was on Monday 17th December and we met at Bruschetta, our usual meeting venue, for a delicious Christmas meal. We were delighted to be joined by honorary member Mike Webb and his wife Alison; Mike was co-responsible for the start of Wessex Mead back in 2001, guiding the new club along the Rotary path. We were also joined by a number of our members partners as well as two past Wessex Mead members . Christmas cards were exchanged and Secret Santa paid a visit too - clever Santa knows us well as the majority of gifts involved food and drink!

Although New Years Eve was not  a formal meeting night, President Caroline invited those who had not made alternative plans to join her and her partner Ian at home for dinner and to welcome in the New Year together.

We have lots to look forward to in 2013 - our Big Breakfast in February, a masked ball for President's Night in March and a quiz in April to name but a few.
