We have changed our name; the Rotary Club of Wessex Mead (Trowbridge) is now the Rotary Club of Trowbridge Wessex Mead, a small but very significant change.

For the past 10 years we have been trying to make a positive difference in our own town with fundraising and local service projects. However it has become clear that many people, including other Rotarians, do not associate the name of Wessex Mead with Trowbridge. We are therefore aiming to give our Rotary Club a clearer identity by claiming the town of Trowbridge whilst maintaining our roots by keeping our name of Wessex Mead.

One of our community projects is to assist the Trowbridge Carnival Club. This small committee comprises just 8 members including a representative from Trowbridge Wessex Mead and puts on a number of events throughout the year culminating in the Carnival Procession in October. On the 19th August, five Trowbridge Wessex Mead Rotarians marshalled at the Soap Box Derby, a fun event with about 40 competitors including two of our very own! Sadly no prizes for Deon & Chris this year but we all enjoyed the fun & drama on a glorious Sunday morning.

Forthcoming Carnival events are the Country Fayre at Trowbridge Park on Saturday 8th September where we will be running a 'wine or air' stall and our Rotary Pub Quiz Night will be raising funds for Carnival Charities on Monday 10th September (details can be found at http://www.wessexmeadrotary.org.uk/).
