Esk Valley Rotary Supports South African Preschool with New Classrooms

Esk Valley Rotary Club, together with fellow Rotary clubs across Edinburgh and the Lothians, has raised more than £5,000 to support the construction of two prefabricated classrooms for a preschool in South Africa, creating learning spaces for 40 young children.

The initiative was made possible through the generosity of local Rotary members and the wider community, as well as a grant from the Rotary District Fund. The new classrooms will provide a safe and engaging environment for early childhood education, helping to give young learners the foundation they need for a brighter future.

“This project shows how Rotary clubs working together can make a real difference across the world,” said Iain Robertson, President of Esk Valley Rotary. “Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and we’re proud to help give these children the opportunity to learn and thrive.”

Rotary International is a global volunteer organisation that supports humanitarian projects around the world — from local community initiatives to major international efforts such as the eradication of polio.
