Helping the children in Ukraine have an enjoyable Christmas

Basingstoke Loddon's 2024 Shoebox appeal

Once again our President, Anne Watson, took it upon herself to lead the Basingstoke Loddon's participation in the Wessex Rotary Shoebox scheme, by managing the task of organising the shoe boxes for the children in the Ukraine, Romania, Montenegro and Moldova.

Many local schools, churches, businesses, groups and individuals pulled together to fill as many boxes with small gifts for the children before the deadline of 2nd November.

Here are some of the supporting schools and clubs:

Local Schools;

  • Bramley
  • Costello
  • Cliddesden
  • Kempshott Infants
  • Oakley Infants
  • Sherborne St John
  • St Marks Primary
  • Tadley Community
  • The Hurst
  • The Vyne

In addition, there are the same groups participating this year:

  • Bramley WI
  • Sherfield Oaks golf ladies
  • Hampshire Clinic
  • St Mary’s Church Overton

Rotarian Margaret Macklin with the 31 shoeboxes donated by Kempshott Infants school. They also donated three bags of gifts for us to fill other  shoeboxes

A HUGE thank you to all those that took part and a big thank you to Jim London, for arranging access to a business unit at Chineham park again this year, allowing us to sort the boxes, ready for shipping.
