STEM Event - Rotary Technology Tournament

Thursday 16th March at Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT)

Another Rotary Technology Tournament is planned for Thursday 16th March at BCoT and are very pleased to invite students from Basingstoke Schools to participate. This is a recognised STEM event bringing together student teams from local schools and colleges each aiming to find the best solution to a technological problem.

Teams need to have good communication skills, be well organised and able to show the stages of development of their task in a design portfolio. Each team’s solution as a working model is competitively tested and assessed by a team of judges.

Recognition is given to the winning teams in each of the three age categories:

Foundation - Key Stage 3 students (age 11 to 14)

Intermediate - Key Stage 4 students (age 14 to 16)

Advanced - Key stage 5 students (age 16 to 19)

Technology Tournaments are accredited by the British Science Association so that every participant successfully completing the TT day can apply for a CREST Discovery Award.

Schools are asked to arrive by 9.15am and leave at 2.45pm. Each team to consist of 4 students. It is anticipated that schools entering Key Stage 3 and 4 teams will have either a member of staff or a technician in attendance.
