Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drug is a national charity that supports anyone concerned about someone else’s alcohol or drug use in Scotland. Our Aberdeenshire service currently offers one-to-one support, group support, CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), access to naloxone, and support to access bereavement counselling. The team offers time and space to explore the issues affecting family members, lets them express their thoughts and feelings, and helps them to come up with ideas and solutions to move forward. Common topics include improving communication, setting boundaries, and looking after yourself. We facilitate an online family support group every fortnight for any adult who is affected by someone else’s substance use. You can expect an array of different workshops to suit all needs whether that be self-care, arts and crafts, cooking, and time to talk sessions as well as sessions provided by external agencies. We accept self-referrals and professional referrals.
