Rotary Club of Aberdeen Deeside (RCAD) have been supporting Voluntary Services Aberdeen (VSA) Easter Anguston Farm for a number of years. Over that time volunteers have built, repaired and repainted a shed for their pygmy goats, potted on seedlings and potted up hanging baskets for their nursery and repaired and painted infrastructure of signs, paths and bench seating.
They are currently locked down and indeed struggling to survive. In that context RCAD, who as a club are also locked down, held an on-line quiz with proceeds going to VSA Easter Anguston.
It was a
fun quiz only, with no prizes at stake, save the satisfaction of helping a very good cause and passing a pleasant and perhaps slightly challenging hour or so to relieve lockdown fever.. The quiz was held on Zoom and the sign up / joining details were sent to anyone making a donation of a minimum of £5.00 to RCAD which has been passed on to VSA.
For a donation, an answer sheet was e mailed to parcipipants. Zoom joining details were e mailed closer to the evening. Currently RCAD Zoom capacity is 100 participants. Sign up closed 24 hours before the quiz for this capacity to be increased but it was not necessary.
In accordance with lockdown restrictions, one participant sign-up also covered a team from the same household, as well as just one individual. Those who had not used Zoom before, were advised to have Zoom downloaded on their device from the App Store (if using a tablet or smart phone) or downloaded on their web browser (if using a laptop or computer) and to familiarise themselves with it.
The quiz has been held but donations are still being received on the basis that these are voluntary and no participation in the quiz is possible.
