The children arrived at Craibstone SRUC campus on Wednesday the 14th of June and soon began to enjoy a range of outdoor activities. There was a large selection of fun activities available as can be seen by the photographs. Some of the activities available for the children to enjoy were the opportunity to ride on the back of a horse belonging to Riding for the Disabled, and climbing onto a carriage pulled by a Clydesdale horse operated by Strathhorn Riding School and also ride in a carriage pulled by a diesel engine supplied by BA Stores.
Senior pupils from Westhill Academy dressed up as clowns and painted their faces and mingled with the pupils for friendly chat. Some carried out face painting along with members of Ellon Inner Wheel while others manned the Westhill Rotary stall where pupils showed their expertise at knocking a sitting ducks on their side.
46th Aberdeen Scout Group gave the children a thrill of walking across a rope bridge. Enthusiastic pupils were harnessed and took up the challenge of climbing a vertical climbing frame and pressing a bell located at the top of their climb.
Excited pupils really enjoyed the experience of touching some of the owls on display from twit2woo Owl Rescue. Other small animals such as ponies, chickens and rabbits were also available for the children to stroke and brush. Angus the Bull was also a favourite to cuddle and pose for a photo.
Another thrill was a battle between a fellow pupil on a bouncy surface to try and knock your opponent to the floor while others enjoyed jumping or sliding down on a bouncy castle.
Some magic tested the imagination as pupils were mystified by the tricks displayed by the magician, the puppet show provided great entertainment and the Satrosphere tent enabled the children to be surrounded by a soap bubble,
Police Scotland provided a lot of fun for the children especially when the policewomen placed their hats on the heads of the children or when they were allowed inside the police car and could press the horn or sound the siren.
The pupils received a sit down lunch pack with a filled bun supplied by JG Ross of Inverurie and a tub of Mackies ice cream.
