Today’s Rotary meeting took a delightful turn as we surprised our long‑standing friend and member, Archie Gracie MPHF, with a birthday celebration in his honour. Although he suspected that something might be afoot, the decorated tables and the number of guests who joined us made the moment all the more special.
Now turned 99, Archie is a familiar and much‑loved presence at our meetings. He contributes enthusiastically to discussions and has a wonderful knack for keeping us all on the straight and narrow.
A retired vet, Archie entertained us with stories from his years in Rotary and from his veterinary career. His fondness for farmyard life—and even the smells that come with it—has never faded. As a fitting birthday treat, we’ve arranged for him to visit a local farm where he can relive some of those cherished memories of working with farm animals.
A very happy birthday to Archie, and here’s to many more years of friendship and fellowship.
Our President Elect, Graham wrote a special poem to celebrate the occasion.
