Our regular fundraising activities are:
Christmas Float - We do static collections out side retails stores such as John Lewis Partnership in Purley Way with Father Christmas and seasonal music. We have also restored street collections in areas such as Waddon and the Park Hill estate with a mobile float bearing Farther Christmas, seasonal music and teams of doorstep collectors.
Swimathon - we regularly put a team into the Purley Swimathon and get sponsorship from members and famiilies.
Quiz Night - This popular event is run each year at St Mary's Junior School in Sydenham Road with a capacity crowd fueled by fun and keen competition between established rival teams.
Croydon Classic Car Show - this event is part of the Croydon heritage Festival and is a major undertaking for a club our size and we engage friends and family in it's delivery on the day. We raise funds from the addmission price, the profits on attractions, food and stall sponsorship. Like other out door events we are very dependant ongood weather for the success each year.
These events have largely displacing activities such as Sponsored Walks, Charity Lunches and Golf Days on the grounds that they offer a community dividend as well as proven strong fundraising capacity.
The Charities we have supported from events like this supported include The Rotary Foundation (This is the International Trust Fund run by Rotary International to deliver Humanitarian projects, promote International understanding and educate the leading Peace workers of the future.), The Joshua Orphan and Community Care Trust, Shelter Box, St Mary's Junior School Projects, The Croydon University Hospital Special Baby Unit , the Addington Boxing Club, Sanderstad Neighbourhood Care and Whitgift SNAP.
In addition to this we run ad hoc fundraising campaigns for causes such as making our contribution to the Bill Gates $200,000,000 challenge in aid of End Polio Now where we worked with the NMBEC Phoenix Interact Club which we sponsor and St Mary's Junior School with events such as mufti days.
