Many thanks to Tesco for allowing us to collect donations of "sweets and treats" from its customers on 1 and 2 December at its Chichester Superstore.
The response was absolutely amazing, with so many people making generous donations. One family surpassed all our expectations when they donated a whole trolley full of goodies, and then returned with a second trolley laden with children's toys.
Another person handed us a carrier bag containing everything needed to make a delicious Christmas Day family lunch, including a chicken, stuffing and selection of vegetables.
All the items collected, together with many others donated and acquired earlier in the year, were taken to the Chichester Foodbank.
Social workers supporting our most-in-need families locally were invited to come along to the Foodbank to collect toys, puzzles, games, treats, food and Tesco vouchers for their clients in time for Christmas.
In the coming days, Club members will be collecting at The Cross in Chichester, with all donations received being put to good use to support our continued work in the community over the remainder of the winter.
But it's not just about Christmas... We helped a homeless man recently who was living in a tent and whose feet had been continuously wet for some weeks. We provided him with a pair of new fur-lined boots to keep his feet dry and cosy this winter. He was quite overcome, and couldn't believe that the boots were his to keep.
We could not do any of these things without the kind support of local businesses and the generosity of people in our community.
WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED US TO HELP OTHERS!
